DIVISION CLASSIFICATIONS - TAS

This screen shows the enrolment of the divisions within a state, territory or nationally, the Geographic classification (Metropolitan and Non-Metropolitan), the seat status (Marginal, Fairly Safe and Safe), and the party, which held the seat after the previous electoral event. On this screen you will find...

• the list of divisions within a state, territory or nationally
• the number of electors enrolled within each division
• the Geographic Classification of the Metropolitan and Non-Metropolitan divisions within the state, territory or nationally
• the status of the seat
• the Party which held the seat at the previous general election.

1. Where a winning party receives less than 56% of the vote, the seat is classified as 'marginal', 56-60% is classified as 'fairly safe' and more than 60% is considered 'safe'.
2. Inner Metropolitan: situated in capital cities and consisting of well-established built-up suburbs.
3. Outer Metropolitan: situated in capital cities and containing large areas of recent suburban expansion.
4. Provincial: outside capital cities, but with a majority of enrolment in major provincial cities.
5. Rural: outside captial cities and without majority of enrolment in major provincial cities.
