Notes:

The summary for each selected state, territory or nationally of the total number of votes won by each party or group shown above includes figures for the Senate in Western Australia for the election held on 7 September 2013. This election was subsequently declared void by the Court of Disputed Returns. A new election of Senators for Western Australia was held on 5 April 2014.
For a federal election there are 40 Senate seats contested, 6 in each state and 2 in each of the territories.
For a Double Dissolution Election, there are 76 seats contested, 12 in each state and 2 in each of the territories.
A quota is a proportional share of the total number of votes. It is determined by dividing the total number of formal first preference votes in the count by one more than the number of Senators to be elected for the state or territory and increasing the result by one.
