• the divisions listed alphabetically on a national, state or territory basis
• the demographic classification of each division as at the election within a state, territory or nationally.

1. Inner metropolitan: located in a capital city and comprising well-established, built-up suburbs.
2. Outer metropolitan: located in capital cities and containing areas of more recent urban expansion.
3. Provincial: divisions with a majority of enrolment in major provincial cities.
4. Rural: divisions without a majority of enrolment in major provincial cities.
